Colourful Woven Necklace

Materials

1 clasp
1 10mm cast metal ring
70cm tiger tail
4 crimp beads
4 crimp bead covers
4 wire guardians
20 7mm rhinestone spacer beads
6 8mm cast metal daisy spacer bead
2 6mm jump rings
8 8mm jump rings
8 eye pins
16 3mm spacer beads

10 31x19mm woven wax cord beads
7 15mm Kashmiri style beads
19 8x10mm Imperial Crystal rondelle beads

Technique

STEP 1 Divide the tiger tail into one 40cm and one 30cm section

STEP 2 Take the 40cm length of tiger tail and thread the tail through one crimp bead, one wire guardian and back through the crimp bead. Crimp the crimp bead with your crimping pliers. Take your flat-nose pliers and gently place the crimp cover on top of the crimp to hide. Work your flat-nose pliers around the crimp cover to close.

Now thread *one 8x10mm crystal rondelle bead, one rhinestone spacer bead, one wax cord bead, one rhinestone spacer bead, one Kashmiri style bead, one rhinestone spacer bead, one wax cord bead, one rhinestone spacer bead**, repeat the combination from * to ** two times and one 8x10mm crystal rondelle bead.

Finish by taking the end of the tiger tail and thread it through one crimp bead, one wire guardian and back through the crimp bead. Check to make sure the beads will be finished flushed to the crimp bead and then crimp the crimp bead with your crimping pliers. Take your flat-nose pliers and gently place the crimp cover on top of the crimp to hide.

STEP 3 Take the 30cm length of tiger tail and thread the tail through one crimp bead, one wire guardian and back through the crimp bead. Crimp the crimp bead with your crimping pliers. Take your flat-nose pliers and gently place the crimp cover on top of the crimp to hide. Work your flat-nose pliers around the crimp cover to close.

Now thread *one 8x10mm crystal rondelle bead, one rhinestone spacer bead, one wax cord bead, one rhinestone spacer bead, one Kashmiri style bead, one rhinestone spacer bead, one wax cord bead, one rhinestone spacer bead**, repeat the combination from * to ** and one 8x10mm crystal rondelle bead.

Finish the tiger tail like step 2.

STEP 4 Take one eye pin and thread one 3mm spacer bead, one Kashmiri style bead and one 3mm spacer bead. Create a beaded-connector by trimming the eye pin 1cm from the last bead and using your round-nose plier create a loop. Repeat this step one more time so you have in total two Kashmiri beaded-connectors

STEP 5 Take one eye pin and thread one 3mm spacer bead, one 8x10mm crystal rondelle bead, one daisy spacer, one 8x10mm crystal rondelle bead and one 3mm spacer bead. Create a beaded-connector by trimming the eye pin 1cm from the last bead and using your round-nose pliers create a loop. Repeat this step five more times so you have in total six crystal beaded-connectors.

STEP 6 Create one necklace strap using 10mm jump rings jump rings to join up beaded-dangle from step four and five in the following order: one Kashmiri beaded-connector (step 4) and three crystal beaded-connectors. Repeat this step to create the second necklace strap.

STEP 7 Take one 10mm jump ring and thread the ends of the tiger tail sections from step one and two and one necklace strap. Now take one more 10mm jump ring and thread the open ends of the tiger-tail section making sure the smaller section will sit in the inside and the last necklace strap. Finish by using 6mm jump rings to attach the clasp and cast metal ring to the ends of the necklace strap.
